Moving Weekend!

Saturday is the big day! We've been chipping away, a little at a time, but now it's time for all the big stuff.
Josh and his dad are putting up shelving in the basement. Our stuff will finally be in storage at our house, so we don't have to try to remember when we visit his parents if we need something.
The plumber is putting the plumbing up to the room off the kitchen for the laundry. I'm so pleased that we'll have first-floor laundry!
The electrician (i.e. Tim, my brother-in-law) is coming this afternoon to do the electric for the stove and dryer.
I have to keep, and finish, packing.
Saturday everyone comes here to move us. And then we can start living in our beautiful house :)

Anyone wanna come help pack??? :)

Guess what Rebekah did yesterday?

I think this was a birthday present for Evan Posegate (because I'm sure a one-year old cares about a baby he's never seen; Jasmine didn't care and she adores Rebekah!!) Anyways, here's the (very short) video. Sorry my hand was in the corner; I was so excited to be taping it that I didn't notice until the end!

Here comes the sun!

I'm so thankful...it's 56 and sunny!! I should have written that post weeks ago ;)

Tomorrow is the closing. I can hardly wait!

Rebekah was in her bassinet yesterday when I was trying to pick up in the kitchen, and she wasn't very happy. Jasmine went over and started singing to her; I heard "ooo, I love you," which is from on of her favorite books (Snuggle Puppy). Melted my heart!

Off to cheer on Jeter (bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, guys on first and second, we're 3 behind...he could turn things around!!!)

Will Spring ever get here?

I'm so ready for spring. For some sunshine, temperatures over 50, flowers, buds on the trees...I figured out why I'm having such a hard time believing it will ever arrive. It's been just over 6 months since our "Columbus Day Storm" that took out our power, half the trees, and our car...so for more than 6 months, snow has been a strong possibility for that whole time! Sure, we've had some gorgeous weather for a few days in a row, and we had a mild couple months when we're usually getting pounded, but it's April 18th, and I just today saw my first robin.

Can someone send some warm weather this way? Pretty please??

In less complainy news:
We close on the house on Friday morning. We had our final walk-through today...it's so perfect! I love it. There's a ton of work before we can feel moved in (tonight is our date and we're going to spend most of it packing), but it's coming.

Here's a layout I did today with a great picture of Rebekah:

Two related layouts

I saw an awesome idea on Kimberly's blog, and thought it would be fun to do something similar. I got Josh to cooperate (kicking and screaming; I think the last thing on his "hate" list was a quiet reminder to me that he doesn't enjoy this kind of thing).

Josh's page: everything from Tamra Burwick's "Kokomo" kit
The look of the layout is inspired by an ad from a very old Real Simple :)

(oh, and my kits are, indeed, no longer available. Freebies are still up, though, so help yourself to those, and send friends to come get their own copies of them!)

Reminder: 24 hours left! And more Jasmine goodies

I will be pulling all of my stuff tomorrow (Monday)morning, so don't forget to come buy (haha!) if you wanted to, before my kits are gone forever!!!

Here's a layout I did on Friday. I loved the pictures I got of her playing piano on Easter Sunday, and she was happy to play for me while I snapped away :)

At lunchtime today, we had leftovers, but Jasmine had been eating earlier so wasn't interested (big surprise). She eyed Josh's broccoli on his plate, though, and asked him what it was. (this girl never touches anything green). He told her it was broccoli, and she started saying "BROC-co-li, broc-CO-li, Broccoli!" So he asked if she'd like a taste. Her response: "Please!"
He gave her a tiny floret, and she took the tiniest taste. Then another. I asked, "Is it yummy?" and she said, "yum yummy!" and ate all but the end of the stem. And asked for more, which she ate very quickly. We'll see if she'll try it again, but maybe we can get her eating one of my favorite veggies before long :)

Jasmine-isms

She can now count from 1-10, not missing anything (she used to start at 3, skip 5, and stop at 9, so this is an improvement!) And she's now working on the "teens," so I'm hearing "onteen, onteen, onteen, onteen, onteen..." She's not sure exactly how they work, but what toddler does?

and last night while she was falling asleep, she was naming as many letters as she knew...I was 95% asleep but Josh said she got about half of it! So I guess she's learning something by watching my old Sesame Street DVDs!!

I bought a pair of white dressy sandals last night (of course it's 46 whole degrees right now, and still only April, so I'll hold off on wearing them for a few more weeks). Jasmine thinks they're so pretty! She carried them around the house all evening, saying "pwetty! pwetty!" and wanting to wear them.

I hate when the Yankees play on the west coast. It was hard enough with 8:05 starts the past two nights; I went to bed when we were ahead last night, so a 5-1 loss was pretty sad to hear! And tomorrow's doesn't even start until 10, so I won't see any of it. We only have a few more weeks of cable anyhow (it's included in our rent here, so it's one of those things we won't be continuing with in the new house), so I'd like to see as many games as I can so I can picture the players when we're listening to John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman the rest of the season.

Edited to add: This little girl knows some of her letters by sight! She's right about 75% of the time for C, H and h, and 100% of the time gets M right!! I think she's going to be an early reader :)

I should have known better...

Back in November, I had the silly idea that it would be fun to make a few of the Christmas presents we were giving. One of the ideas was to make blocks for Jasmine, using pictures or very simple digital pages.
I didn't get around to it. I had so much else going on, and she was getting plenty of other presents, so it got put on the back burner.
But I finally decided to get it done, since I'm doing an "anti-procrastination week" with TDC. So I cut the pages Josh printed weeks ago, and glued them on, and once it was dry I coated the pictures with mod podge so they had a nice glaze.
I used a styrofoam block, which was a good idea because it was the only thing I could find. But the pictures didn't go all the way to the end of the sides, so styrofoam is visible on all the sides. I wasn't sure what Jasmine would think of that, but decided to just go ahead and finish it.
That's when I made my first mistake. I said, "Jasmine, would you like a present?" and handed her the block. I showed her how all the sides had pictures of her, and she thought that was cool.
Next thing I knew:

Yup. She thought the pictures came off. Or needed to, anyhow. I'm not sure if my calling it a present was part of the problem, or if she would have done this anyhow. But three of the pictures are off (she's trying to put them back on in the bottom picture), and the others are on their way.
I'm disappointed, but not at her reaction. For some reason the mod podge messed with the colors on some of the pictures, and if it touched the styrofoam it brought up tiny "fuzzies" with the brush. So it was already a frustration before I gave it to her.

I am so glad I've gone digital. I love that I can make anything I want to, spending hours making it "just right," and not have to worry about stupid things like styrofoam fuzzies or pictures getting discolored from touching something else. In case there was any doubt, not only will I never go back to paper scrapping, I'm also not going to be one of those "hybrid" scrappers I keep seeing in the scrapping magazines!

Easter picture

Jasmine's doing gymnastics in my lap so this is short (again!)
This is one of my favorite pictures from Sunday. What a cutie!! (I'm not partial or anything) I set everything up for this picture, and she'd come sit in the chair for all of .24 seconds, and then be up again...but it worked!

Don't forget: my stuff is only available for one more week!!!!!

Funny Jasmine story: we were leaving the supermarket last week, and as Josh took her out of the cart, her shoe came off part of the way. She said: "Shoe. It's foot. Push?" :) She may not put many words together yet but she certainly gets her point across!!

We had a lovely Easter yesterday with my family. I got a bunch of pictures, so you'll be seeing lots of layouts over the next few days :)

It's my birthday!

It's my birthday! I've always enjoyed birthdays, even this one (I'm 30 today!!)
Since Josh and Jasmine just got back, I can't "chat" long, but I wanted to post a picture of Rebekah and I. (this is from our birthday celebration with my family from last Saturday)

Huge announcement

I'm wearing my Yankees jersey, and the first game starts in just over 3 hours. I'm so excited!! I've missed it. Spring training helped, but most of the games weren't on TV and I knew they didn't "count" in the same way, so it didn't feel the same. But today the game really starts :)

So, without further ado, I have 5 winners of my little baseball kit. Alice (who chose the player my mom thinks is most like Josh temperamentally, so he's my favorite fielder), Brandi (who chose the player who got me liking the Yankees in the first place), Stacey (who chose my favorite pitcher. I have a bobblehead of him wearing his minor-league uniform, since the Orioles' farm team used to be Rochester), Ebie (Cairo is great!), and Pam, even though our teams are huge rivals (I really like Damon. What a great guy!) Watch your emails for a link :)

And...a "sad" announcement. I put sad in quotes because I'm really not sad about it. I think it's time, at least for now, to give up designing. It's giving me more stress than joy, and since I've made a total of one sale since I put things in my own store, it doesn't exactly motivate me to keep going. Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing it for the money. To me, only selling one means my name isn't getting out there, or I'm not producing something different enough from what's out there, for people to choose to buy it. So I'm having a retirement sale. Kits are a buck each, word art kits are .75, and you can get all my kits together for $5. They'll be available for 2 weeks (sale ends 4/16 and all kits will be gone then) so buy them while you can!! (Go here to see/buy them)

I may still make occasional freebies, but I don't guarantee anything that way. I'll leave my freebies up for awhile...I'll announce it if I decide to pull them, but there's really no reason for that.

Okay; I'd better go update the PayPal buttons. If you see them as being full-price after 12 est today, leave a comment so I make sure I have them all updated appropriately :)
