Last night I decided it was time to do something I've put off for awhile.
We took Jasmine to get her hair cut.
I loved her little toddler curls. I knew they'd be gone when we cut it. But it was a constant struggle to keep them looking nice. She usually looked like she'd been caught in a wind storm (which was her choice: "I want it windy" or "I want it silly"). It hurt her to brush it, so she ran away.
It was heartbreaking, but I kept from crying by taking pictures the whole way through. The guy was impressed at how well she behaved, and he sent us home with a lock of her hair.
I'll be turning it into a page, but for now,

Feeling Good!
I'm so excited!
I usually enjoy Monday mornings. I love the desire to see stuff get done. I usually get a long list done on Mondays. Laundry is top of the list, but general cleaning is in there too.
But since I got pregnant, the energy to do that has been almost nonexistent. I barely get anything done, and my house is living proof of that.
Last night we were all in bed very early (we were getting the girls down by 8, I think), and the girls each got up only once. (we have more nights of sleeping through than it might sound like, but it's probably a majority of times at least one of them needs us for something).
Josh was up by 5:30, and the girls and I were up at 6. It's now 9:00, and I've:

- sorted the girls' clothes, taking out their tank tops and sleeveless dresses, and put everything back in neater order
- brought out a bin of the girls' toys and re-filled that bin with things they haven't been playing with as much lately (I've been trying to rotate their toys to keep the interest up)
- made Jasmine a bowl of oatmeal, which she devoured
- collected all the laundry and had Josh bring it down so I can start it
- showered, gotten all three of us dressed
- posted my sketch challenge at TDC

Introducing: Humphrey!!
I had an ultrasound this afternoon. "Humphrey" is perfect. Measuring perfectly, moved all over for us...played peekaboo and waved and danced and did all those things that newborn babies do. Except that s/he has another 7 months to do it before even being called a newborn!!
Here's a layout I did yesterday, in anticipation of the ultrasound.
And here's what Humphrey looks like!
And for those who haven't spent as much time as I have looking at ultrasound pictures:

Pregnant and trying to just enjoy every minute of it
According to the little ticker on the side of this blog, the baby now has elbows. How awesome is that???
It's good to focus on that, and not on the fact that I only (/still) have a few weeks to go before I'm in the second trimester.
I can't wait to get my energy back. I'm sure the girls can't wait, either. Not that I'm a run-around-and-dance kind of mom, but right now the most I can handle is sitting on the couch and letting them bring me books to read.
I can't wait to have my appetite back. I'm getting bizarre cravings....right now I'm fondly remembering some sort of a bruiscetta (I think I butchered the spelling of that) with portobello mushrooms and lots of parmesan. The funny thing is that I hate mushrooms, and the thought of one makes me turn one shade greener, but right now, the memory of that flavor is on my mind.
I'm sure Josh can't wait for me to get back to my "normal" self again (whatever that is). I miss cooking. I'm getting tired of the few things I have the energy and stomach to make.
But my baby's got elbows. And it's more important that I rest so that my body can nurture this baby so that s/he can be strong and perfect.

Fun weekend!
If you have any interest in digiscrapping (other than just looking to see what I make, of course), then you should go check out TDC! The site got a makeover, and it looks incredible! There are two new designers, a whole slew of new creative team members and hybrid members, and I'm hosting a couple fun challenges. Lots of fun and prizes and laughter :)
I've gotten way behind on posting layouts; I'll try to get back into that again soon. No guarantees, but I'll try!

"My Snake Page"
I have the funniest story. I'm going to have to scrap it at some point, even though it means taking a picture of a snake (shudder).
Jasmine likes to pretend she's scrapping. She sits down at her little desk and scrolls her "mouse" and types on her "keyboard" and says "I'm scrapbooking."
For awhile, she'd "show us" pages, telling us what they were. They were all pages I'd made.
But one day, she told me about her "snake page." I was bewildered. I've never taken a picture of a snake, much less scrapped about one! But she kept talking about it!
We went to the zoo on Friday. When we walked into the Reptile and Amphibian room (where I walk quickly past the snakes and spent more time looking at the turtles), she stopped DH at the first snake.
"Those are scrapbook page snakes!"
She had a specific snake in mind on the page she "created!" I was flabbergasted!
Of course I didn't have my camera with me (it was threatening rain so I left it home) so I'll have to get one next time we're there :)
