UPDATE about Turkish Carpet kit

For some reason, the jpg file of "turkish-checks" isn't liked by photoshop. So if you have a problem with it too, you can re-download the kit. I'm so sorry! I have no idea what the problem is! So I saved it as a PNG, and you should be able to use it the same way.
